Eau Claire,WI : Florida man arrested for crashing stolen semitrailer on April, saturday 29th 2017

A Florida man who crashed a stolen semitrailer truck after a high-speed chase early Saturday in Dunn County has been arrested on multiple charges.

Todd J. Fine, 50, of Sarasota, Fla., is in the Dunn County Jail, accused of fourth-offense drunken driving, felony fleeting and operating without owner’s consent.According to a Wisconsin State Patrol news release, a State Trooper noticed sparks coming from the undercarriage of the semitrailer truck at about 4:35 a.m. Saturday as it traveled eastbound on Interstate 94. When the trooper attempted to stop the truck, it exited at Highway B on Menomonie’s east side and began accelerating.

The truck reached 90 mph in a 45 mph zone, according to the news release.

As the truck continued southbound on 610th Street, the driver lost control and the truck crashed about 1½ miles south of Highway 29. The truck came to rest on it’s roof in a treeline, severely damaging the vehicle and causing minor injuries to Fine.

Fine was treated at Mayo Clinic Health System — Red Cedar in Menomonie before he was taken to jail.

Break Thru Beverage Minnesota Wine and Spirits of St. Paul owns the truck. The company was unaware its truck had been stolen, the State Patrol reported.

The Dunn County sheriff’s office is handling the investigation of the crash.
