Cheyenne, WY : Two people were injured in a car vs. motorcycle crash on Saturday, September 16th 2017
Two people were injured in a car vs. motorcycle crash in Wright Township on Saturday evening. According to Sgt. Jay Douglas of the Ottawa County Sheriff’s Office, a 17-year-old Marne resident driving a 2001 Chevrolet Blazer was attempting to pass another vehicle heading westbound on Arthur Ave. near 24th St., on Saturday, Sept. 16, around 8:12 p.m.
In attempting to pass, the driver did not see a 2003 Yamaha motorcycle, driven by a 48-year-old resident of Comstock Park. The driver of the Blazer attempted to avoid the collision but was unable to and the vehicles collided in a sideswipe motion. Both the driver of the motorcycle and the passenger, a 43-year-old resident of Wyoming were thrown from the motorcycle. Neither of them were wearing helmets.
The 48-year-old driver was treated at the scene and transported to Spectrum Butterworth Hospital in critical condition. The 43-year-old passenger was also treated at the scene and transported to Spectrum Butterworth Hospital by Life EMS in critical condition. The 17-year-old driver of the Blazer was not injured. Responding agencies to the accident were the Ottawa County Sheriff’s Office Road Patrol. Wright-Talmadge Fire Rescue, Coopersville-Polkton Fire Rescue, Life EMS and AeroMed. The incident remains under investigation and names were withheld pending notification of family members.
