AUSTIN, TX : APD investigating deadly crash along SH 71 in southwest Austin on Tuesday, 10th September 2024

A deadly hit-and-run crash in southwest Austin is under investigation, according to police.

Police responded to the crash on State Highway 71 near the Oak Hill area just after 7 a.m. Tuesday after a pedestrian was hit by a vehicle.

The pedestrian was pronounced dead at the scene, which prompted police to close the east and westbound lanes for several hours. Police have not released any information on the vehicle involved, which left the area following the crash.
