Winter Haven, FL : Three drivers were injured with a non life-threatening injuries in a three-vehicle crash at U.S. 17 On Thursday, May 5th, 2016
A three-vehicle crash Thursday afternoon blocked the northbound and southbound lanes of U.S. 17, said the Winter Haven Police Department.
The three drivers involved were taken to the Winter Haven Hospital with non life-threatening injuries, said Jamie Brown, the police spokeswoman.
About 2:50 p.m. Colleen Taylor, 64, was heading east on Avenue C Southwest in a 2001 Nissan Maxima while Edward Miller, 66, was heading west in a 2014 Nissan on the same road, Brown said.
Both Nissans entered the intersection at U.S. 17 on a green light when they were struck by Beatriz Garcia, 29, who was traveling north on U.S. 17 in a 2008 Ford Expedition.
Brown said Garcia ran the red light and drove through the intersection, hitting Miller and then Taylor.
The lanes of U.S. 17 were blocked until 4 p.m. while officers investigated the crash and the vehicles were removed.
Garcia was charged with careless driving, Brown said.
