Fort Collins, CO : Pedestrian injured in collision with minivan on Tuesday, August 2, 2016
A pedestrian attempting to cross a busy south Fort Collins intersection against traffic was hospitalized after being struck by a minivan Tuesday.
Shawn Trimble, 23, was trying to cross the intersection of Harmony Road and John F. Kennedy Parkway from the southeast to the northwest, according to a Fort Collins Police Services release. A Toyota Sienna driven by Dawn Nottingham, 49, was traveling westbound on Harmony in the left through lane on a green light when Trimble tried to cross Harmony north from the center median and collided with the front of the van.
Trimble was taken to Poudre Valley Hospital where he was treated and released. He was cited for entering the path of an oncoming vehicle so close as to constitute an immediate hazard.
Nottingham was not injured, and police do not suspect alcohol or speed played a role in the collision. Westbound Harmony Road and JFK Parkway were closed for nearly 3 1/2 hours while police investigated the incident.
