A Midlothian man was killed and four people were hospitalized Tuesday night after a head-on, two-vehicle crash on Interstate 195 near Carytown, Richmond police said.
At 10:52 p.m., police responded to a crash on the highway near the Cary Street exit. Investigators determined that a 1999 Toyota Corolla was on the wrong side of the road when it struck a 2008 Hyundai Santa Fe that was headed westbound on the downtown expressway.The driver of the Toyota, Eugene J. Driscoll Jr., 45, of the 7700 block of Sunday Silence Lane, was pronounced dead at the scene. All four occupants of the SUV were taken to a hospital, one of them with life-threatening injuries.
Police said the crash remained under investigation Wednesday.
