Raymond, WA : Truck driver escapes serious injury in crash with 100-ft beam in Raymond on Thursday morning, December 4, 2014
A logging truck driver miraculously escaped serious injury when his truck's cab was nearly sliced in half during a collision with a large concrete beam in Raymond Thursday morning.
The 100-foot beam was being hauled on a trailer via semi truck to a WSDOT project in Grays Harbor County when it tried to turn from southbound US-101 onto SR-6. But it didn't clear the intersection in time before the northbound logging truck collided with the beam.
The beam ended up in the logging truck driver's lap and had to be moved before they could free the driver.
He was taken to a local hospital with relatively minor injuries, Winger said.
Both US-101 and SR-6 were closed at the intersection for 3 1/2 hours, troopers said.
