A Schenectady man was seriously injured after his motorcycle left New Salem Road and crashed Saturday.
The 36-year-old driver, and his 34-year-old female passenger, were driving in the area of New Salem and Martin roads around 3:51 p.m. when their motorcycle left New Salem and crashed into an island made up of a tree, rocks and bushes on a home's front lawn, according to the Albany County Sheriff's Office.
Witnesses said it appeared the motorcycle failed to negotiate a turn driving west on New Salem when it crashed.
Both victims were wearing helmets. The male driver was transported to Albany Medical Center Hospital in serious condition. The female passenger, who is also from Schenectady, was also taken to Albany Med with non-life threatening injuries. The sheriff's office did not release the victims' names.
The New Salem Fire Department assisted at the scene along with sheriff's patrol division, EMS and Paramedics. Investigation into the crash is continuing.
