Town of Scott, WI : Sheboygan County crash kills one man, injures two others on May 24, 2014
A single-vehicle crash in Sheboygan County has put three men in the hospital.
Authorities say it happened on Cranberry Road just south of County Road D in the Town of Scott just after 1 a.m. Saturday.
According to a press release, the car was traveling at a high rate of speed when it left the road, hit a tree and rolled several times.
The driver, 22-year-old Christopher Goneau of West Bend, was extricated from the vehilce and taken to Froedtert Hospital in Wauwatosa. Efforts to save Goneau's life did not work and he later died at the hospital
One of the passengers, 21-year-old Matthew Rooney of Jackson, was ejected and became trapped under a tree that had fallen as a result of the crash. Rooney suffered serious injuries and was airlifted to Froedtert Hospital.
The other passenger, 21-year-old Michael Manteufel of West Bend, suffered moderate injuries and was taken to St. Joseph's Hospital in West Bend.
Police say alcohol and speed were factors in the crash.
