Pike Township, OH : 18-year-old Logan Voorhees killed in a three-vehicle crash in Clark County on Monday, February 6, 2017

The Ohio State Highway Patrol has identified the person killed in a three-vehicle crash in Clark County.

OSP says 18-year-old Logan Voorhees from Springfield died in the crash.

According to OSP, Voorhees was driving a blue car when he tried to pass a white pick-up truck on SR-41 just west of SR-235 just after 5:00 a.m. on Monday.

Voorhees tried to pass the truck on a hill, and a maroon SUV driving in the other direction hit the car head-on.

Voorhees was pronounced dead at the scene. OSP says he wasn’t wearing his seatbelt, but Lt. Brian Aller says that likely didn’t matter because the damage to the car was so severe.

Aller estimates that because the two other victims were wearing seat belts, their chances of surviving the accident was much higher.

“It made a huge difference, a huge difference. Probably one would have passed away if not both. It made a huge difference. Again, with the deceased, it would not have, given the compartment impact,” said Aller.

The woman driving the SUV, 66-year-old Linda Stafford was taken to Miami Valley Hospital by CareFlight. The man driving the white pickup truck, 55-year-old Jackie Kibler, was taken by ambulance to Miami Valley Hospital as well. Stafford is listed in stable condition while Kibler was not treated.

OSP shut down SR-41 in both directions at the scene of the crash.

Troopers are still investigating the crash but say speed and improper passing both appear to be factors in the crash.

Counselors at Northwestern School’s are available for students affected by the passing of Logan Voorhees.
