Eden, N.C : Man and woman killed in a wreck in Rockingham County on Sunday afternoon, September 11, 2016

A man and woman were killed in a three-vehicle wreck Sunday afternoon in Reidsville. Two others were injured.
Katherine Michelle Casteneda, 47, of Rocky Mount, Va., and Filadelfo B. Bahena, 40, of Reidsville, died in the wreck, according to a release from Master Trooper Chris Knox with the Highway Patrol.

Casteneda was driving a Dodge Neon north on N.C. 14 near Harrington Highway about 1:30 p.m., according to the Highway Patrol. She is accused of driving at a high rate of speed and swerving erratically, the Highway Patrol said, before crossing over the center line and hitting a GMC Envoy head-on.

Casteneda continued driving, hitting a pickup truck, according to the Highway Patrol.
Casteneda and Bahena, who was in the front seat, died at the scene of the crash.

A 31-year-old man in the right back seat of the Neon was partially ejected from the vehicle and was flown to Wake Forest Baptist Medical Center with life-threatening injuries, the Highway Patrol said.

The fourth person in the vehicle, a 23-month-old toddler, was taken to Morehead Memorial Hospital before being flown to Brenner Children's Hospital in Winston-Salem with serious injuries, the Highway Patrol said.
The connection between the three adults in the Neon was not immediately clear, Knox said. The toddler is the child of the driver, Casteneda, he said.

The 49-year-old driver of the GMC Envoy was taken to Moses Cone Hospital with serious injuries, the Highway Patrol said. The driver of the pickup truck was uninjured.

Information on how fast Casteneda was driving, as well as who was wearing a seatbelt in the vehicle and what may have caused the wreck are still under investigation.
