A Northwest Florida man was killed Monday after he lost control of his car following a rear-end collision with another vehicle on Interstate 10.
According to a Florida Highway Patrol news release, James Anderson, 65, of Cottondale, was traveling west on I-10 near the 32 mile marker in Santa Rosa County at 12:38 p.m. when his 2014 Kia Optima rear-ended a 2016 Ford van driven by German Thompson, 27, of Locust Grove, Ga.
After the initial impact, according to the release, the Kia crossed the grass median and then the eastbound lanes before crashing into trees on the south side of the highway.
Anderson was pronounced dead at the scene, while Thompson did not suffer any injuries in the collision.
