Umatilla,FL : Wrong-way crash on SR 19 leaves 1 dead in Umatilla on February, Sunday 25th 2018

A head-on crash at State Road 19 and Lake Smith Road Sunday in Umatilla left one person dead, according to the Florida Highway Patrol.

According to a report, the two-vehicle crash occurred at about 4:50 p.m. Robert Hogg, 73, of Umatilla, was driving south in the northbound lanes on SR 19 when his pickup plowed head on into a van driven by Daniel Couse, 55, of Umatilla.

Hogg was taken to Florida Hospital Waterman where he died. Troopers say Couse was taken to Orlando Regional Medical Center where he is in serious but stable condition.

The crash remains under investigation.
