Beaufort,SC : Beaufort man, Miami woman ID’d as victims in head-on collision near Talmadge Bridge in Jasper County on November, Friday 3rd 2017

A Beaufort man and Miami woman were identified as the two victims of a late-night head-on collision on U.S. 17 in Jasper County near the Georgia state line.

James Reynolds, 44, and Alexis Hilbert, 22, were named as the victims of the crash by Jasper County Coroner Martin Sauls III Friday afternoon. Hilbert would have turned 23 on Friday, Sauls said.

The crash happened about 11:05 p.m. and closed part of U.S. 17 near the Talmadge Bridge was closed for about seven hours as the S.C. Highway Patrol investigated.

A 2015 Chevrolet Equinox was traveling north on the highway when it collided head-on with a 2002 Ford Explorer traveling south, said Corp. Sonny Collins with the Highway Patrol.
