WALNUT CREEK, CA : One dead, five injured in Walnut Creek DUI crash on Thursday, 2nd January, 2020

A woman suspected of driving under the influence and causing a head-on crash Thursday that killed one person and injured five others, including a child critically, was identified by Walnut Creek police a day later.

Jessica Martin, 35, a resident of Tennessee, is suspected of felony DUI and vehicular manslaughter, Lt. Traci Reese said Friday. Police arrested Martin at a hospital, after an ambulance took her there to treat minor injuries suffered in the crash.

Hector Garza, 45, of Walnut Creek, died at the scene. The Contra Costa County Coroner’s Office identified Garza on Friday morning.
