Hadley, MA : Bristol man killed in Western Massachusetts crash on May 22, 2014

The victim of a crash in Western Massachusetts Thursday has been identified as Joseph A. Arruda of Bristol.

According to the Northwestern District Attorney’s office, the 57-year-old was killed in a two-car collision on Route 9 in Hadley.

The preliminary investigation indicated that the victim was traveling westbound on Route 9 when he crossed over the center line and struck the rear drivers-side section of an oncoming vehicle, the DA’s office said.

The driver of that vehicle was not seriously injured, and was transported to Cooley Dickinson Hospital for treatment.

The cause of the crash remains under investigation.
