Concord, NH : Weare man hurt badly in crash between dirt bike on February, Saturday 3rd 2018
An 18-year-old Weare man suffered serious injuries in a Saturday afternoon crash between off-road vehicles near Gorham Pond in Dunbarton, according to officials.
New Hampshire Fish and Game said that Keith Cantin, 20, of New Boston was operating a dirt bike when he collided with Keith Locke, 18, of Weare, who was operating a four-wheeler ATV. Locke, who was not wearing a helmet, suffered serious but non-life threatening injuries and was transported to Concord Hospital by Dunbarton Ambulance, according to officials.
Cantin was taken “by private vehicle to Catholic Medical Center in Manchester, where he was treated for serious but non-life threatening injuries.”
The accident reported around 1:30 p.m. is still under investigation, but Fish and Game that “based on the preliminary investigation it appears speed and operator inattention is the primary causation of the accident.”
Dunbarton police, Dunbarton fire and rescue, and the Bow ambulance assisted Fish and Game conservation officers at the scene.
Under state law, all operators of off-road vehicles who are under age 18 are required to wear a helmet. Fish and Game officials “strongly recommend” that all operators wear a helmet.
