SPRING HILL, FL : 5 injured in Spring Hill wrong-way crash on Thursday, 28th February 2019
A Hernando County Sheriff’s Office deputy is among five people who were injured in a wrong-way crash early Thursday morning in Spring Hill.
Investigators say the crash happened around 1:15 a.m. A red sedan was driving the wrong way on Spring Hill Drive and hit a blue sedan that was driving east. The crash caused a chain reaction. A HCSO deputy was driving behind the blue sedan and rear-ended it.
Four people were transported to a local hospital by ambulance. Another HCSO deputy transported the injured deputy to a nearby hospital. The deputy is expected to be OK. The others involved in the crash suffered non-life threatening injuriess, according to Hernando Sheriff PIO Denise Moloney.
Investigators are not sure yet if alcohol played a factor in the crash.
