One person was killed and five others injured after two vehicles crashed in a busy Colorado Springs intersection late Saturday night.
Police say an SUV was turning left from North Academy onto Platte around 11 p.m. just as a car was entering the intersection. The two collided, and a passenger in the SUV was thrown from the vehicle. They died before first responders could reach the scene.
Both drivers and the surviving passengers were transported to the hospital. Their injuries were all described as minor.
Academy and Platte was closed for several hours Saturday night into Sunday morning.
Investigating officers said speeding, drugs and alcohol do not currently appear to be factors in the crash.
