Mount Clemens, MI : Man killed in 3-car crash in Harrison Township on Monday, December 19th 2016
An 18-year-old man died early Monday in a head-on crash on North River Road in Harrison Township, police said.
The victim was driving a 2007 BMW east on North River Road and tried to pass a 2004 Saab between Irwin and Bridgeview at approximately 2:45 a.m. but crossed the center line and collided head-on with a westbound Chevrolet Malibu, Macomb County Sheriff’s Lt. John Michalke said. The driver of the Saab then collided with one of the other vehicles.
Police did not immediately divulge the name of the BMW driver pending further identification but believe he is a resident of Chesterfield Township. He was traveling alone.
The driver of the 2010 Malibu, identified as a 19-year-old resident of New Baltimore, suffered injuries that were not considered life-threatening but was transported to a hospital. According to initial reports, the 19-year-old driver of the Saab from Harrison Township was not injured. Those two vehicles also had no passengers.
Sheriff’s investigators did not immediately know whether alcohol consumption was a factor in the incident near Selfridge Air National Guard Base.
North River Road remained closed at 9:45 a.m. between Irwin and Bridgeview as the investigation continued.
