SAYBROOK TOWNSHIP, OH : Pedestrian killed in crash on I-90 on Sunday, August 6, 2017
Alcohol and drugs might have been a factor in the death of a Maple Heights man killed Sunday while laying in the westbound lane of Interstate 90, according to the Ohio State Highway Patrol.
Derico Ronny, II, 33, was struck by a car at about 5:18 a.m. Sunday and pronounced dead at the scene, according to the OHP report.
A 2014 Toyota Corolla was traveling westbound on I-90 in the left lane when it struck Ronny, who was laying in the middle of the road, according to the OHP.
The driver of the vehicle, Jason Simms of Louisville, Kentucky, was wearing his seatbelt and was not injured, according to OHP. Troopers said speed does not appear to have been a factor in the crash.
