NASHVILLE, TN : Driver arrested following pursuit crash in Antioch on Sunday, 3rd March 2024
The Metro Nashville Police Department apprehended a man for driving dangerously and leading officers on a high-speed pursuit through Antioch on Sunday.
According to the arrest affidavit, MNPD officers watched a vehicle drive through a red light and continue along Bell Road at high speeds in the early morning hours on Sunday. MNPD’s Aviation Unit then began tracking the car.
The aviation crew observed the car, along with another vehicle, perform burnouts in the middle of the intersection of Bell Road and Murfreesboro Pike, and again in the parking lot of the AMC Antioch 8, the affidavit states. Officers on the ground attempted a traffic stop when the driver, 18-year-old Deyvy Mendoza, got out and walked around the car.
Mendoza jumped back in the car and sped down Bell Road, police said. They attempted to spike-strip the car twice, at Bell Road and Cane Ridge, and again in a neighborhood on Serene Drive. Both attempts were unsuccessful.
