Louisville, KY : 3-year-old killed in collision on Broadway on Tuesday night, January 31, 2017
A 3-year-old child was killed after being struck by a car Tuesday night, police said.
The 3-year-old boy darted out into the road and was hit by an SUV shortly before 7 p.m. at West Broadway and Cecil Avenue, according to Louisville Metro Police spokesman Lamont Washington. He was pronounced dead at the scene.
The driver of the SUV stopped immediately after hitting the child and was cooperating with police, Washington said. No charges are expected. The child, who lives in the 4100 block of W. Broadway, ran out of his house and was attempting to cross Broadway from west to east when he was struck.
"He had no shoes, no socks, no coat, no jacket, no nothing," said Tamera Brooks, a neighbor who arrived at the scene shortly after the collision. "It's like he dressed himself and came out the door."
