Independence, MO : Two injured in crash involving city bus at Missouri 291 and Gudgell Road on Tuesday, December 27, 2016

An IndeBus carrying one passenger was hit from behind Tuesday at Missouri 291 and Gudgell Road, sending both the bus driver and passenger to the hospital with minor injuries.

According to city officials, Bus 702 was waiting a red light in a northbound lane of M-291 shortly after 11 a.m., when a Dodge pickup truck rear-ended the bus. Both vehicles suffered significant damage, and the truck was towed away from the scene.

The bus driver and the passenger were expected to be released perhaps as soon as Tuesday afternoon, city officials said. The truck driver was not injured.
