Cocoa Beach, FL : 75 year-old man hit and killed by a vehicle in Brevard County on Thursday night, Nov 12, 2015

A man was hit and killed by a vehicle in Cocoa Beach, officials said Thursday night.

Joseph Thompson, 75, of Cocoa Beach, was attempting to cross 6th St. at S. Orlando Ave. (SRA1A) in his electric mobility scooter at about 6 p.m. when he was struck by a 2005 Toyota driven by Luke French, 18, of Cocoa Beach, police said.

Thompson was transported to an area hospital where he died as a result of his injuries.

No charges have been filed.

The investigation is active and ongoing.
