HENRICO COUNTY, VA : 2 injured after I-295 crash involving tractor-trailer, Fed Ex truck on Tuesday, 12th March 2019
Two people were seriously injured after a crash involving a tractor-trailer and Fed Ex truck on I-295 South in Henrico County Tuesday morning.
The two-vehicle crash occurred shortly after 9 a.m. in the southbound lanes, just north of Darbytown Road.
A Virginia State Police trooper's preliminary investigation reveals that a 2019 Freightliner tractor and trailer was attempting to pull back out into the right lane of travel from the shoulder. A 2018 Volvo Fed Ex tractor hauling double trailers was traveling in the right lane, veered to the left in an attempt to miss the tractor, struck the trailer portion of the Freightliner on the left side, then ran off road right, overturning the tractor.
All involved were wearing their seat belts, according to VSP. The driver and a passenger in the Fed Ex truck were transported to the hospital for serious, but non-life threatening injuries.
