Shaftsbury, VT : Teen hurt in a one-car crash on Monday, November 3, 2014
A Pownal teenager suffered a minor head injury in a one-car crash, police said.
Megan Manktelow, 16, was a passenger in a 2004 Hyundai Santa Fe driven by Kobe E. McFaline,16, of Bennington, police said.
McFaline was driving north on Tinkham Road in Shaftsbury around 8 p.m. Monday when he lost control, police said. The car left the road, crashed through a cow fence and went down an embankment before coming to rest in a field.
Manktelow suffered minor injuries and was treated at the Southwestern Vermont Medical Center in Bennington.
The front bumper of the car was damaged, its two front tires were blown and its frame was cracked, police said. It was towed from the scene.
Police said McFaline, who was not injured in the crash, was given a ticket for driving too fast for conditions.
Both McFaline and Manktelow were wearing seat belts, police said.
