A deadly deputy-involved shooting was reported Monday in the Lake Wales area of Polk County. Detectives said the suspect died after a traffic stop.A Polk County Sheriff's Deputy fatally shot a man who authorities say pulled a handgun during a traffic stop.
Sheriff Grady Judd said a deputy clocked a motorcycle driving 112 mph Monday night near Lake Wales. The deputy followed the motorcycle and a short time later found it on its side near an intersection.
Judd said the deputy asked 34-year-old Quentin Louis Case to show his hands. Case pulled the gun from his waist and Judd said a "gunfight ensued." The deputy was not injured.
The sheriff said Case had an active warrant for violation of probation and had an extensive criminal history.
