Terre Haute, IN : Slick highway results in Parke County crash on Sunday, January 29th 2017
Seatbelts were credited with reducing injuries to three Parke County teens involved a rollover crash on U.S. 41 at Snake Hollow.
Indiana State Police at Putnamville report that Jacob Collom, 18, of Mecca, was driving south on U.S. 41 in a 2001 Ford Ranger when he lost control on the icy roadway in a curve. The truck went off the west side of the road and rolled.
Collom was not injured. Passengers Declan Griffin, 17, and Jonetta Overstreet, 16, were taken to Union Hospital of Clinton with complaints of pain.
Sgt. Joe Watts reports all three were wearing seatbelts, which reduced injuries and saved their lives.
The teens were on their way to Riverton Parke High School when the 8:10 a.m. crash occurred.
Investigating the crash was ISP Master Trooper Gary Winters with assistance from ISP Trooper Michael Organ, Parke County Sheriff’s Deputy Kyle Stonebraker, Mecca and Lyford Fire/Rescue Departments, and Parke County EMS.
