The Charleston County Sheriff's Office is investigating an accident in McClellanville.
Just after 1 p.m., deputies responded to a vehicle collision involving a pedestrian on Highway 17 near Irving Manigault Road in McClellanville.
According to investigators, a woman was crossing Highway 17 when she was hit by a private ambulance, deputies say.
The woman was pronounced dead at the scene.
No other injuries were reported from the collision and the patient in the ambulance was transported to his destination without further incident, according to deputies.
This collision is under investigation by the Charleston County Coroner and the CCSO Selective Traffic Enforcement Unit.
One southbound lane is now reopen, according to deputies.
