Clatskanie, OR : One person died, two others injured after a Car, semi-truck collision on U.S. 30 near Clatskanie on Wednesday, December 23, 2015
One man is dead and another two people injured after a collision between a car and semi-truck along U.S. 30 west of Clatskanie on Wednesday.
Zai G. Yang, 55, of Warrenton, was pronounced dead at the scene following the crash at milepost 65 around 8 a.m. Oregon State Police say he was a passenger in a westbound Pontiac sedan that crossed the center line and crashed head-on into an eastbound Kenworth semi-truck hauling timber.
The impact from the crash sent the car and the semi-truck into a nearby water-filled ditch, police said.
The driver of the car, Qiongfang Peng, 49, of Portland, and the semi-truck driver, Dennis Erickson, 37, of Sheridan, both sustained apparent non-life-threatening injuries, police said. Peng was taken to a hospital for treatment and Erickson was treated at the scene.
An investigation is ongoing to determine what caused the car to veer into the path of the semi-truck, according to police. A portion of the roadway was closed in both directions, but has since reopened.
