Edmond, OK : Cushing man dies in collision and Edmond man injured on Friday, December, 8th 2017
A fatality collision occurred at approximately 6 a.m. Friday on State Highway 33 at .1 miles west of Karsten Creek and 8.1 miles west of Perkins in Payne County.
Cushing resident Joe Gandara, 56, was pronounced dead at the scene from head and trunk internal injuries, according to the Oklahoma Highway Patrol.
OHP reported that Gandara was driving a 1998 Ford Mustang westbound on SH-33 when a 2001 Ford F-150 Pickup driven by Jesus Gutierrez, 37, of Edmond, was traveling eastbound.
“For unknown reason vehicle 1 (Gandara) crossed the centerline striking vehicle 2 (Gutierrez) head on,” OHP stated.
No passengers were involved in the crash.
Gutierrez was transported by LifeNet EMS to Integris Hospital of Edmond where he was treated and released, OHP stated. Gandara was pinned for approximately two hours and was freed by the Coyle Fire Department, OHP stated. Seatbelts were in use by both vehicles.
