Howland, OH : Ohio trooper injured in three-vehicle crash in Howland Township on Sunday, September 11, 2016

A trooper from the Warren Post of the Ohio State Highway Patrol suffered minor injuries in a three-vehicle crash while performing a traffic stop at about 2:45 a.m. Sunday on the state Route 82 westbound exit ramp to East Market Street in Howland Township. Injured was Sgt. Daniel Jesse who was released after treatment at ValleyCare Trumbull Memorial Hospital in Warren.

According to the OSHP, Jesse had made a traffic stop of Jamie Buckner, 26, of Leavittsburg, when a car driven by Jimmie Ray Stella Jr., 36, of Warren, struck the rear of the patrol car pushing it into Buckner’s vehicle. Buckner sustained minor injuries and was treated at the scene. All three vehicles received major damage.

Stella was charged with operating a vehicle impaired and failure to move over for a public safety vehicle. He is being held in Trumbull County Jail.
