Ascension Parish, LA : At least one killed in Prairieville crash at the intersection at Airline Highway and Germany Road on Friday, 12th July 2019

A two-vehicle crash Friday afternoon left an eight-year-old boy dead in Ascension parish, State Police spokesman Trooper Taylor Scrantz said.

The incident took place just after 5 p.m. Friday evening at the intersection at Airline Highway and Germany Road in Prairieville.

Scrantz said an initial investigation revealed Averiel Crenshaw, 32, of Baton Rouge, was traveling southbound on Airline Highway in a Toyota Camry with Lyric Crenshaw, 8, in the front passenger seat.

For reasons unknown at this time, Crenshaw made a left turn into the path of a Ford F-150. The Ford struck the Toyota on the passenger side, ejecting Lyric Crenshaw from the vehicle. Police do not know if he was restrained properly. He was transported to the hospital where he later died.Averiel Crenshaw, though properly restrained, also suffered serious injuries and was transported to the hospital as well. A toxicology sample was taken for analysis from Crenshaw, and her impairment is unknown at this time.

The driver and passenger in the Ford sustained minor injuries.
