Enterprise, NC : Jackson County man killed in Haywood County car crash on Wednesday morning, May 25, 2016

A Jackson County man was killed in a car accident Wednesday morning, and a woman and child were transported to the hospital.

The driver of a pickup truck, Ray Ferguson, 78, of Jackson County, was killed while Amanda Arline Oellerich, 29, of Haywood County along with a child in the car, were transported to Haywood Regional Medical Center.

Officials closed a portion of the Great Smoky Mountain Expressway near Exit 100 for several hours, closing off westbound traffic, instructing drivers going westbound to turn their cars around to head back toward Russ Avenue driving on the wrong side of the road.
