Ellensburg, WA : Man injured in van-pickup crash on Interstate 90 Thursday afternoon, August 18, 2016
An Ellensburg man was injured Thursday afternoon when the van he was driving was rear-ended by a pickup on Interstate 90, the Washington State Patrol reported.
David R. Granger, 54, was taken to KVH Hospital in Ellensburg, according to a patrol news release. A nursing supervisor said he was treated and released.
The crash was reported about 12:24 p.m. 17 miles east of Ellensburg.
The driver of the pickup -- Donald A. Burlingame, 65, of Cutbank, Mont., -- was not hurt, nor were his passenger or the five passengers in the van.
Burlingame's passenger was Montie Burlingame, 62, of Olalla. The other van occupants were James E. Lyons, 24, Brady S. Austin, 22, Kaleb M. Lundquist, 25, and Cheyenne G. Shelton, 21, all of Ellensburg; and Stephen L. Stageberg, 60, of Selah.
Troopers said both vehicles were eastbound when Granger slowed for a pedestrian in the area. The pickup struck the van from behind.
The van passengers were part of a state Department of Corrections crew picking up trash, troopers said.
Burlingame was expected to receive a ticket for following too closely.
All occupants were wearing seat belts, and intoxicants were not suspected of contributing to the crash.
