Upper Marlboro, MD : Motorcyclist killed in crash in Prince George’s County on Thursday, July 14, 2016

Prince George’s County police have identified the man killed in a Thursday motorcycle crash that shut down Marlboro Pike for several hours.

Marcus Hayes Jr., 21, of Shady Glen Drive in District Heights, Md., died at the hospital several hours after a car struck his motorcycle a few miles from his home, according to officer Tyler Hunter, a police spokesman.

At about 2:45 p.m., officers responded to the 7300 block of Marlboro Pike, where they found Hayes injured. Investigators said the motorcyclist was making a left turn from Boones Lane to head east on Marlboro Pike when he was hit by a vehicle leaving a nearby parking lot. Hayes was taken to the hospital, where he died.

Hunter said the driver of the vehicle was not injured and remained at the scene to cooperate with crash investigators, who have not decided about possible charges.
