Charlotte County , FL : 72- Years old woman killled and other man seriously injured in a nine-vehicle chain reaction along northbound Interstate 75 on Tuesday afternoon , March 3rd 2015
An Indiana woman died and a man was critically injured in a nine-vehicle chain reaction crash that shut down northbound Interstate 75 for hours on Tuesday afternoon.
According to a report from the Florida Highway Patrol:
Robert Long, 48, of Fort Myers was driving a tractor-trailer across the Peace River Bridge when he failed to observe an SUV that was stopped in the outside lane for other traffic.
Long's vehicle rear-ended a 2003 Chevy Equinox driven by Charles Isenhower, 77, of Lebanon, Indiana. Patricia Isenhower, 72, also of Lebanon, Indiana, was pronounced dead at Fawcett Memorial Hospital in Port Charlotte. Charles Isenhower was flown to Lee Memorial Hospital in Fort Myers with critical injuries. Both were wearing seatbelts.
Long was cited for careless driving.
The accident involved seven other vehicles, with only minor injuries listed to the drivers of three of the other vehicles.
The accident investigation is still ongoing.
