SARASOTA COUNTY, FL : 47-year-old Parrish man dies in U.S. 41 crash on Tuesday, December 6th, 2016

The Florida Highway Patrol said alcohol was a factor in a crash that killed a Parrish man Tuesday night.

The Florida Highway Patrol said Michael John Burnett, 47, of Parrish was driving northbound on U.S. 41 in the left lane north of 73rd Street when he drifted off the roadway at 10:37 p.m. Tuesday.His truck crossed the middle and right lane of the three-lane road, and traveled off the road and struck a railroad support pole. When the truck came to rest on the east shoulder of the road it was leaning against the railroad support pole facing northeast.
