Grass Valley, CA : Woman sustains minor injuries in one-car crash on Highway 20 Friday morning, January 8, 2016

A Penn Valley woman sustained minor injuries after losing control of her car on Highway 20 Friday morning.

The one-car accident occurred at 6:40 a.m. near the Dorsey Drive exit on eastbound Highway 20.

According to a news release from the California Highway Patrol, the Jeep Cherokee was traveling around 55 miles per hour when the driver, Jenna Beauchamp, 26, lost control as she tried to merge into the exit lane to Dorsey Drive.

The car traveled into the freeway shoulder before overturning down the hillside and severing an AT&T utility pole at the base of the hill.

The woman was transported to Sutter Roseville Medical Center; traffic on Highway 20 was not affected by the accident.

The CHP is investigating the cause of the incident; authorities have ruled out drugs or alcohol as contributing factors.
