Ventura, CA : Pedestrian critically injured after being hit by car in Ventura on Tuesday, October 21, 2014
A pedestrian suffered critical injuries Tuesday after being hit by a car in Ventura, officials said.
The crash occurred about 6:20 a.m. near Main Street and Lemon Grove Avenue.
About 10 minutes before the crash, Ventura police received a call about an erratic driver stopping at green lights, authorities said. After the crash, officers found a pedestrian lying in the road with serious injuries. The driver, a 74-year-old Camarillo man, was not injured and remained at the scene, officials said.
A preliminary investigation indicates the pedestrian was walking north on Lemon Grove and the driver was heading west on Main Street. It appears the driver had a green light when he hit the pedestrian in the crosswalk, Ventura police said.
The victim was in critical condition Tuesday at Ventura County Medical Center.
