BROCKTON, MA : Arrest made in fatal Brockton hit-and-run on Friday, November 25th 2016

Police have arrested a Brockton man they say was behind the wheel of a car that struck a pedestrian who later died.

Plymouth District Attorney Timothy Cruz announced that 39-year-old Nilton Goncalves was arrested at his home Tuesday and is scheduled to be arraigned later in the day on charges connected to the death of Sergio Licona.

The 25-year-old Licona was struck while crossing the street in front of a Brockton bar at about 1:30 a.m. Friday. Surveillance video from the bar showed the victim being thrown into the air and landing several car lengths away from where he was struck. The district attorney says he died at the hospital on Monday morning.

It could not immediately be determined if Goncalves had a lawyer.
