MADISON COUNTY, OH : A deadly crash that happened in Madison County on Saturday, July 1, 2017
The Ohio State Highway Patrol is investigating a deadly crash that happened in Madison County Saturday.
Troopers said a woman was driving a car northbound on State Route 56 near mile post 1 in Somerford Township just before noon.
OSHP said the woman did not leave enough space between her car and the vehicle ahead of her and hit a dump truck that was parked partially in the northbound lanes of State Route 56.
After hitting the dump truck, troopers said the woman's car hit a pickup truck that was heading south on State Route 56.
Troopers said her car then hit 51-year-old David Lynch of Springfield, who was standing in the northbound lanes directing traffic around the dump truck that was hit and another dump truck and trailer.
Lynch was taken to Madison Health Hospital where he was pronounced dead, according to OSHP.
Troopers said the woman did not require treatment for her minor injuries.
OSHP Sgt. Roger Cooper told 10TV Lynch worked for Meade's Paving out of Springfield. Cooper said the dump truck belonged to the same company.
OSHP said alcohol and drugs are not believed to be a factor in the crash and troopers are still investigating.
No citations or charges have been filed at this time.
