Richmond Township, MI : Car crashes into business in Richmond Township on Route 222 on Friday, 21st September 2018

A car slammed into the side of a business along Route 222 Friday night in Richmond Township.

Crews were dispatched about 6:50 p.m. to the 14000 block of Kutztown Road (Route 222) for the report of a vehicle accident with entrapment.

According to Fleetwood police:

Carlos Gonzalez, 33, of Reading was heading south on Kutztown Road when his vehicle traveled into the center and northbound lanes before returning to the southbound lane and striking a vehicle driven by Dana Vandergrift, 46, of Littlestown, Adams County.

The impact caused Vandergrift's vehicle to flip onto its side, while Gonzalez's vehicle continued off the roadway, striking the side of Lash Tax Service at 14031 Kutztown Road. A wheel flew off Gonzalez's vehicle, striking a car driven by Junelle Kichline, 35, of Whitehall, Lehigh County. Debris also struck another vehicle parked in front of Lash's.

Gonzalez and Vandergrift were transported to Reading Hospital, where they were both being evaluated Friday night, according to a hospital spokeswoman.

Route 222 was closed for more than an hour. The accident remains under investigation.
