A Kitsap County sheriff's deputy under investigation for his involvement in a hit-and-run crash in Silverdale has retired.
The Kitsap Sun reports that Kenneth Mahler had been placed on administrative assignment after the Aug. 4 crash. He retired Monday.
The Washington State Patrol began investigating Mahler after a person called 911 to report that their vehicle had been hit by another vehicle in a parking lot. The caller provided a license plate number and description of the vehicle, and a search determined it was registered to Mahler.
The incident had occurred while Mahler was off-duty.
No one was injured.
The county prosecutor's office says it is reviewing the case.
