FRANKLIN COUNTY, IL : 1 southbound lane open, both northbound lanes closed on I-57 at 68mm in Franklin Co. due to crash on Friday, 5th July 2024

Both southbound lanes and one northbound lane of Interstate 57 reopened at the 68 mile marker after a crash and hazmat situation.

According to the Franklin County Emergency Management Agency, recovery crews are still working to clean up and remove damaged containers and the vehicle.

Yellow Banks Road was also closed from Route 37 to Orient Road.

According to Illinois State Police, the crash happened around 4:56 a.m. on Friday, July 5.
