Authorities say a driver suspected in a hit-and-run crash in Las Cruces that injured two teenage girls has been arrested.
Las Cruces police say 81-year-old Rudalfo Villegas was taken into custody Thursday evening.
He's being held on suspicion of failure to yield to a pedestrian in a crosswalk, failure to render aid, leaving the scene of an accident resulting in bodily injury and failing to immediately provide notice of an accident.
Villegas was booked into the Dona Ana County Detention Center and has already posted bond.
It was unclear Friday if Villegas has a lawyer yet.
Police say the twin 16-year-old girls were in a designated crosswalk when they were struck Monday afternoon.
One of the girls remains hospitalized in critical condition while the other was treated and released.
