Princeton,WV : Raleigh County man charged with DUI with death in I-77 crash on February, Tuesday 27th 2018

A Raleigh County man is facing a DUI with death charge stemming from a September crash on Interstate 77 during which a passenger in his vehicle died.

Nicholas C. Andrepont, 45, currently of Coal City, was charged Monday, Sgt. C.F. Kane, with the West Virginia State Police Turnpike Division, said.

Kane said the crash occurred Sept. 13, 2017, when Andrepont drove his 2011 Jeep Wrangler southbound in the northbound lanes of I-77. The accident occurred at mile marker 18 in the Camp Creek area of Mercer County.

“This caused a crash with two other vehicles traveling northbound,” Kane said.

Kane said Cody Tyler Kincaid, 27, of Beckley was a passenger in the Jeep and died in the crash. Several other individuals received non life-threatening injuries.

Other vehicles involved in the crash included a tractor-trailer and a truck pulling a 30-foot trailer, First Sgt. Mike Crowder said on the morning of the crash. The trailer was loaded with nine, large commercial air conditioning units measuring 6 feet by 8 feet, and 5 feet tall.

“The Jeep was heading south in the northbound lane,” Crowder said. “It had a head-on impact with the tractor-trailer.”

Kane said Andrepont, who is from Louisiana, was arraigned Monday in Raleigh County Magistrate Court and released on bond.

DUI with death carries a possible prison term of three to 15 years and a fine of $1,000 to $3,000, Kane said.

Cpl. J.D. Hamilton, also of the State Police Turnpike Division, is lead investigator on the case.
