Mobridge, SD : Two people dead in crash at entrance of Grand River Casino on Saturday August 2nd 2014
Two people from Eagle Butte are dead following a crash at the entrance of the Grand River Casino in northern South Dakota.
Authorities on Sunday said 71-year-old Kaisagarr Tavia-Fiatoa was exiting the casino's parking lot when he turned west onto U.S. Highway 12 into the path of a Chevrolet pickup truck heading east.
Tavia-Fiatoa's vehicle came to rest in the north ditch, while the pickup entered the north ditch, went through a fence and came to rest in a pasture.
Authorities say Tavia-Fiatoa and passenger 61-year-old Alma Tavia-Fiatoa were ejected from their GMC Sierra and died at the scene. Neither was wearing a seatbelt.
Seventy-three-year-old Edward Schweitzer was driving the Chevrolet pickup. The Mobridge man suffered serious injuries and was taken to a local hospital. He was wearing a seatbelt.
