Jacksonville, FL : Police cruiser, semi in crashes on I-295 near Normandy Boulevard on Monday, April 20, 2015
A police cruiser and a semi-truck were involved in crashes Monday on Interstate 295 northbound near Normandy Boulevard, causing traffic delays.
According to the Florida Highway Patrol, a car tried to change lanes in front of a semi-truck and hit the front of the semi-truck, which was pulling a flatbed trailer. The semi and the car pulled over and blocked the left emergency lane and the far left lane of I-295 northbound near Normandy Boulevard.
No one was hurt in the crash, but it caused a chain reaction crash when another vehicle slowed because of the crash and was rear-ended by an unmarked Jacksonville Sheriff's Office cruiser, FHP said.
The passenger in the second car suffered very minor injuries and was taken to a hospital as a precaution, FHP said.
One lane of I-295 northbound near the Normandy Boulevard exit was blocked while FHP investigated the crashes but the lane reopened about 2:40 p.m.
News4Jax will update this article when the FHP releases its report on the crashes.
